110 Amiens Street

The primary architectural response of this proposal has been to the streetscape. The building is composed of a series of intersecting volumes and planes, which respond to the proportion and rhythm of the adjoining Georgian terraced building. The first of these forms is the plane rendered in facebrick, which occupies the street frontage at ground to third floors. This form comprises of window openings, which initially bear relationship to the Georgian solid/void relationship to the north of the street façade, but gradually deconstructs as one moves southward. Behind this facebrick planar element is a secondary five-storey element. This is a glazed volume, with a light, receding quality.
