Bracken Motors

Seeking to provide additional facilities for an existing Motor Sales, Servicing and Maintenance company, NDBA were asked to provide these 3 functions within the same building on the outskirts of Arklow. The skin of the silver coloured volume is peeled back on the right hand corner to reveal the most public area or heart of the building. The use of rainscreen terracotta cladding is an attractive foil and contrast to the silver industrial panels. The 3 functions are contained within the silver volume and the square windows of the first floor administration area reveal “picture-frame” views of the countryside beyond. The building’s functions work in a clockwise manner from the – enter on the right, left for sales, back for servicing and right around for maintenance. Incorporating a high level of service design and a fresh approach to the standard “industrial unit” elevation treatment, the Bracken Motors building has quickly become a local reference point and landmark for those within this business park, and those travelling along the nearby N11 route.
